Another great coffee from Finnish micro-roaster Frukt Coffee Roasters comes from the Brazilian farm Araucária in the Minas Gerais region. Producer Gabriel Barreto and his family are building the Casa Almeida Barreto project here, with whom Frukt has been working since its first exports. Today, it is one of their closest and longest-lasting partnerships.
This lot of the Yellow Catucai variety impresses primarily with its purity, high sweetness and fruitier character, which is not always a given in Brazilian coffees. In the cup, you will find tones of yellow fruit and white chocolate, complemented by pleasant apple acidity. The coffee has a lighter body, beautiful legibility of individual flavors and an elegant, sweet finish.
Thanks to careful processing using the Natural method and an emphasis on fermentation processes, Gabriel Barrett manages to create coffees that combine typical Brazilian sweetness with surprising freshness and complexity. The result is a harmonious and very well-balanced coffee that excels both on a filter and in espresso.
