The Oiva mug with the iconic Piccolo pattern is one of Marimekko's timeless designs. The striped motif was created in 1953 by designer Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi - the same year she joined Marimekko. The pattern was hand-painted with bold brushstrokes and soon became one of the brand's signature motifs. A few years later, it also appeared on the legendary Jokapoika shirt, which quickly became a part of everyday style and a fashion icon.
