Heikki Orvola

HEIKKI ORVOLA
Leading Finnish designer Heikki Orvola was born in 1943 in Helsinki. He works mainly with glass, which was also at the start of his career in the 1960s, when he worked in the glassworks in Nuutajärvi. In 1987, he designed the Kivi candlesticks, which Iittala still produces today. He has also designed for Marimekko and the Arabia porcelain factory, and his successes have only been confirmed by the prestigious Kaj Franck Design Prize. Today, he teaches design as a professor in Helsinki.
