Brand: Lapuan Kankurit

Design: Akira Minagawa

The Aurora blanket design by renowned Japanese designer Akira Minagawa is inspired by the subtle majesty of the Northern Lights. The Aurora Borealis, an integral part of the northern landscape of Finland and other northern countries, connects the earth and the universe in silent harmony.

Minagawa has transferred this impression to the blanket using simple lines that fold and overlap like delicate folds of fabric. This creates an impressive three-dimensional effect - subtle but profound. You perceive the blanket not only as a functional accessory, but also as a poetic image in your everyday space. The woolen fiber of this blanket is colored in the town of Lappajärvi by a plant dye obtained from locally collected Finnish boryte dye.

The Aurora blanket is woven in Finland from premium Finnish Finnsheep sheep wool combined with certified New Zealand wool. Sustainable and responsible production using local materials combined with the 100-year history of the family-run Lapuan Kankurit weaving mill results in premium wool blankets that you will love for their softness and timeless Nordic design.

Akira's style is often described as romantic, naive and imaginative.
