The Birds by Toikka collection began in 1972, when Finnish designer Oiva Toikka created the first series of glass birds at the Nuutajärvi glassworks. Since then, hundreds of different designs have been created and the collection has become an icon of Finnish design around the world. Each bird is original – it is created by hand and reflects not only Toikka's creativity, but also the mastery of individual glassmakers. Owls are among the most popular motifs in the entire collection and, thanks to their limited production, they also have significant collector's value.
