Philosopher Moominpappa Merino Mittens, Finnsheep black / reflective

This special edition of Finnish mittens with a reflective Moominpappa motif by the renowned author Tove Jansson combines traditional Finnish craftsmanship with sustainable materials. The mittens are knitted in Tampere from a blend of Finnsheep wool and recycled merino wool spun at the Pirtti spinning mill in Mikkeli, while the reflective print is added in Helsinki. Thanks to this material combination, the mittens are exceptionally warm, soft, and gradually become pleasantly felted, which enhances their wind resistance. The natural fibre also gives the mittens their distinctive dark grey, almost black shade.

The reflective design increases your visibility in the dark. Interestingly, safety reflectors are a Finnish invention from the 1950s, and Moiko cleverly combines them with wool accessories and textiles. The result is beautiful design pieces that have even received the prestigious Red Dot Design Award.

SIZE
This edition has a slightly larger fit than the usual Moiko mittens, as they naturally shrink a little with wear. We generally recommend size M for women and L for men.

MATERIAL
100% wool (wool from Finnsheep and recycled merino wool), reflective print.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Both Finnsheep and merino wool fibres are naturally antibacterial and therefore do not require frequent washing. Wash only when necessary, inside out, on a gentle wool cycle or by hand at 30 °C. Use liquid wool detergent. Do not scrub, wring, or tumble dry.
